Choices GraphicSo many times when I’ve told people that we homeschool our kids or that I am a “stay-at-home mom” people immediately decide that we must be wealthy and there is no way THEY could do that.  It is just not possible.  This just makes me sad… sad that someone feels that they don’t have choices.  They do!  Life is all about choices!

My Educational Journey: A Classic Suburban Tale

Classic SuburbanIn an effort to improve my writing and to help my students improve theirs, I recently signed up for a writing class. My first assignment for this class is to write a paper describing my educational journey as a vehicle. While I can definitely see how my education has gotten me where I am today, part of the assignment was to tell what KIND of vehicle it is. That is a little harder. Cars are my husband’s area of expertise, not mine. It took a little bit of thinking on my part but I finally decided on a classic Chevy suburban.

Why “Teenager” is a Bad Word

NO TEENAGERSIn my house, teenager is a “bad” word. We don’t have teenagers. We have young adults. Now this is not my own idea. I fully acknowledge that I have been heavily influenced by Dr. Oliver DeMille and his book Thomas Jefferson Education. His book made me look at my kids in a totally different way – a life changer for all of us!
