My son, at 16 years old, called this show the scariest movie he had ever watched. The show? “The Secret History of the Credit Card” by Frontline on PBS. Probably not what you were expecting…
Whenever my nieces and nephews visit their most requested meal is pizza. My homemade pizza is famous! For every birthday and holiday it is an absolute must. One of the reasons I think that everyone loves it so much is that everyone makes their own. Most of them just put tomato sauce and cheese on it, but they get to pat out the dough, spread the sauce and sprinkle the cheese. Somehow that must make it taste better!
Ok, this is not the most entertaining video out there but it has so much meat and it is a cartoon so that makes it a little easier to watch. It takes a complex economic topic and makes it easier to understand. It is 45 minutes long but worth it.
A couple years ago I had the opportunity to read several books that I normally wouldn’t have. If you are anything like me, you have a pile of books next to your bed that gets bigger everyday! When I’m teaching classes I have even more books because I need to keep up with my students. The year I’m referring to I also ran a book club for adults … and it was with this group that I found my new favorite book – Laddie by Gene Stratton-Porter.
Another Econ Video!!! This one is dear to my heart. I think personal responsibility is so important. I didn’t really like the message of Wall-E but if you take it as a sociology/history/economics lesson and debrief it with your students there is a lot to learn! Take a look at this video…
In my house, teenager is a “bad” word. We don’t have teenagers. We have young adults. Now this is not my own idea. I fully acknowledge that I have been heavily influenced by Dr. Oliver DeMille and his book Thomas Jefferson Education. His book made me look at my kids in a totally different way – a life changer for all of us!
Every once in awhile I get someone who calls about surveys and if I have time I usually will answer their questions. I don’t run into it very often but every once in awhile they will call me a housewife… not a good thing.
